In addition to our work supporting British jobs, sport and wildlife we also support a number of charities doing great work helping people in the UK. From the very beginning Pinckneys has set out to do more than simply craft sterling spirits, trying to lead by example to put something back into our World. So in addition to producing our award-winning Gins, we also:
1. Support British Jobs: by keeping all our business in the UK
2. Supporting British Sport: sponsoring Ludlow Races, British Polo and 3 Eventing Teams.
3. Supporting our Environment: see our “Environmental Policy”
In addition, we also try and help some charities each year, mainly by supporting their fund raising events with the supply of complimentary Gin. We especially like to support charities which incorporate aspects of Nature within their work as we at Pinckneys believe being involved with Nature is a powerful healing tool and this is why, amongst other reasons, we are working hard to convert our farm into a special Wildlife Habitat and destination for all to enjoy.
During 2019, these have included:
Casting for Recovery - The light casting motion of fly fishing acts as therapy for body and mind for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by breast cancer. The weekend retreats incorporate medical advice, educational services, counselling and relaxation techniques. The retreats are delivered by trained professionals including a psycho-social therapist, a health care professional (e.g. physiotherapist, nurse), as well as qualified fly fishing instructors and fishing guides.
Horatio’s Garden - Horatio’s Garden is a charity that creates and lovingly cares for beautiful accessible gardens in NHS spinal injury centres. Horatio’s Garden provides patients with somewhere to find much-needed solace in an oasis of planting, even if on bed rest; the garden is accessible for all. Patients can take part in gentle rehabilitation activities in the gardens organised by the charity, including garden therapy, art therapy and music events.
Teenage Cancer Trust - Teenage Cancer Trust is a cancer care and support charity in the UK that exists to improve the cancer experience of young people aged 13–24. Founded in 1990, the charity's key service is providing specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals. It also trains and funds staff who are teenage cancer specialists.
